Here’s a recent deck project I completed.  My job was to repair and extend an existing deck. The railings and connections were loose and the wood decking was starting to show signs of failure. Check out the pictures below and see how I updated this deck.

I began by demoing the stairs to put another concrete footing:

Next, I dug a new 4′ hole for the concrete footing and inspected to see if the other deck footings were structurally sound:

After removing the decking, and perimeter joists, I began reframing the extended deck:

I framed a new set of stairs:

Installed new posts and beam:

After flashing, I installed vinyl lattice panels and composite decking:

Installing the composite railings:
